The Hyperbolic Time Chamber is a sealed pocket of white nothing with a house standing at the centre of it. Once every 23 hours and 30 minutes you may step inside for 30 minutes of real time, train at ten times the usual rate, and call bosses out of the void to fight on your own. COMMANDS: - hbtc: your session status, the time you have left, and when you may next enter. - hbtc enter: begin a session. Typed at the entrance, the vestibule just outside the chamber door. Refused while you are fighting, and refused while you are fused. - hbtc leave: end your session early and step out. Refused while you are fighting. - hbtc summon list: the numbered roster of shapes the chamber will hold. - hbtc summon : call that shape into the void. - hbtc dismiss: send the shape you called back into the white. Refused while you are fighting, so break off first. THE SESSION CLOCK: A session lasts 30 minutes of real time and may be started once every 23 hours 30 minutes. The wait counts from the moment you take your ordinary entry, and it is half an hour short of a full day on purpose, so you can keep the same time each day even if you arrive a little late. A Hyperbolic Coupon is the one way in that does not restart it, see below. The clock is absolute, so it keeps running while you are logged out, while you are linkdead, and straight through a reboot or a copyover. Lose your link and reconnect quickly and you resume exactly where you were, still inside and still on the clock. A copyover puts you back inside where you were standing. Any other restart puts you back at the door instead, and so does staying away long enough for your body to leave the world. The clock and the wait for your next entry keep running either way. hbtc leave forfeits the rest of the session in the same way, and the wait still counts from the moment you first entered, not from the moment you left. Leaving a coupon session early costs you nothing at all, because such a visit never started the wait. You are warned at 5 minutes and again at 1 minute remaining, then you are put out automatically. The chamber holds up to 4 people at once. Every occupant runs a completely separate session with its own clock and its own entry wait, so entering alongside somebody else is company, not a shared timer. THE HYPERBOLIC COUPON: A Hyperbolic Coupon is an extra trip, not an early one. Stand at the chamber entrance and type use coupon, and the door opens then and there and takes you in, and the coupon is torn up paying for it. Your own 23 hour 30 minute wait is not spent and keeps running. It will open the door to you when it always would have, so a coupon trip in the afternoon costs you nothing from the run you had planned with your group that evening. The coupon opens the chamber door and nothing else. It must be torn at the entrance, it will not reach you out of a fight, and it will not get you past the limit of four people inside. If any of those refuse you, or if the door would already open for you anyway, the coupon is kept and nothing is spent, so it is never wasted. Coupons are sold in the event shop, eshop, every month for 500,000 event points. WHILE YOU ARE INSIDE: The chamber is sealed in both directions. You cannot recall, crecall, instant transmit, portal or quit while you are in it, and you cannot walk out. You cannot walk in either, hbtc enter and a Hyperbolic Coupon are the only two ways through the door. Dying inside does not send you to the afterlife. You wake in the Living Quarters and your clock keeps running, so a death costs you time on top of the usual penalties, which still apply in full. A fused character is the one exception, dying while fused takes the ordinary road to the afterlife. Players cannot fight each other anywhere inside. TRAINING AND GRAVITY: Everything you earn inside is multiplied. Stat experience pays 10 times the usual rate and power level pays 10 times the usual rate, whether it came from training or from a kill. Both multipliers land after every bonus, nerf and cap the game already applies, so nothing swallows them. Power level you buy, redeem or eat is not multiplied, only power level you work for. There are four Gravity Halls, each with a machine of its own. A gravity device only works while you are alone in a room, which is exactly why there are four halls, one for every possible occupant, so all four of you can train at your own settings at the same time. Your own gravity device works anywhere inside the chamber except the Isolation Chamber. The Isolation Chamber regenerates you quickly, though not instantly, and no gravity of any kind can be set in it. Healing there spends the one thing the chamber is short of, which is time. FOOD AND REST: The Living Quarters hold a refrigerator and a water fountain. Type get food at the refrigerator and it hands you one of ten dishes at random, each carrying a different set of bonuses lasting anywhere from 5 minutes to a full hour depending on the dish. It will serve you again after 5 minutes, counted per person, so another occupant's meal never delays yours. Out at the very centre of the void ring, a still pool holds the chamber's water, and the water holds fish that exist nowhere else. Bring a pole and bait, the ten times rule counts your catches, and nothing in that pool will ever fight back. SUMMONING BOSSES: hbtc summon works only out in the void that wraps around the house, never in the rooms inside it. The five strongest opponents answer only in the Deep Void, the outer region past the ring. The list marks that condition where it applies. No entry asks for a remort, every shape is open to everyone. Summoning costs zenni, and the price climbs with the rung, from 1,000,000 for the gentlest shape to 1,000,000,000 for the worst of them. The list prints the price beside every entry. There is no limit on how many you may call, the 30 minute window and your purse are the only limiters. You may only have one boss alive at a time, so the current one must be dead or gone before you can call another. That is counted per player, and another occupant's boss can never block yours. If you call something you cannot beat, hbtc dismiss unmakes it and frees you to call another. You must not be fighting when you type it, and the zenni you spent on the shaping is not returned. What the chamber shapes it does not pay for. A summoned boss carries no purse, so killing one yields no zenni and no tokens, and it does not go into your boss kill record. The reward is the power level, multiplied like everything else you earn inside, and whatever loot falls.
