CKMud traces its origins to DBI, a project born from the initial work under the DBX name created by Kastion. Over time, Zenzi took over and expanded the project under DPR, and finally it evolved into Cypress with DBI — the codebase that launched CKMud. A few notes:

• Riddled with bugs and backdoors.
• Lacks ASCII player files.
• A significant part of CKMud's history.

In July of 2023, Fenix convinced Zenzi to help create a new version of the DBX codebase — and CKMud was born. This version includes:

• Only the Human, Saiyan, Halfbreed, Namek, and Android races.
• Implemented Android Upgrades.
• Cleans up the bugs and backdoors found in DBI.
• Introduces ASCII Player Files.
• The planet system with Earth and some early zones.
• Revamped transformation code and an early Event system.
• Does not yet include the mentor system, gauntlet, or racial trait system.
